About Us ... 

Brut Detroit Origins

Our Owner, Nicole Mangis, founded Brut Detroit with Sommelier Mike Fifer. Her passion for travel, culture, community, and of course wine took her around the world. On these adventures she found herself making new memories and being immersed in new cultures and communities by taking the road less traveled and steering away from typical tourist locations. It was these detours that allowed her to meet new people and break down barriers usually by sharing a glass of wine (or a local spirit) and finding ways to communicate. This wanderlust was mirrored by her adventures closer to home where a successful evening meant good company, good food, and good wine. Thus, wine became a companion and a tool to experience the world. It was this shared interest that helped Nicole and Mike shape the concept for Brut Detroit into a reality. 

Brut Detroit launched in 2016 with a series of wine tastings at Pages Bookshop in the Grandmont Rosedale neighborhoods in Detroit. From those humble beginnings, Brut Detroit has grown into a dynamic business with a recently expanded catering menu, two new mobile bars - Vesper and BB - and bartending services for any occasion. Of course, we still host wine tastings and educational workshops.

Here at Brut Detroit we believe that community comes first. To us, a business is a tool in a community to help drive a positive path forward. When businesses and neighbors can come together to support one another a truly powerful ecosystem evolves. We strive to manifest this passion for our community from our customer service, to how we pay our staff a living wage, to how we give back to support non-profits.
